Stabilizers for assay manufacturing
High-quality stabilizers are key in assay manufacturing and development. Cantor BioConnect offers an array of stabilizers from various sources in order to meet your manufacturing needs.
Albumin
Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA) is popular as a stabilizer in diagnostic assays (both in solid and liquid phase) and in cell culture applications. Cantor BioConnect offers both Standard Grade and Fatty Acid-Free Grade from New Zealand, Europe, or USA, manufactured in closed-loop systems using the highly consistent heat-shock purification method. Many manufacturers (especially for cell culture applications) prefer the Cohn method of purification which uses cold ethanol to preserve crucial growth factors. Cantor BioConnect also offers Cohn BSA (as well as Rabbit Serum Albumin), manufactured in the USA.
Assay manufacturers use Human Serum Albumin (HSA) as a serum replacement in controls/calibrators to reduce cost and increase stability. Cantor BioConnect offers both heat-shock and Cohn HSA, either Standard or further purified to remove hormones and steroids.
All albumin is offered in a variety of concentrations or lyophilized.
Fetal Bovine Serum
The primary application of Fetal Bovine Serum is cell culture media because its inherent lack of immunoglobulins makes it a perfect supplement, especially for downstream IgG purification. The advantages of Cantor BioConnect’s FBS are large batch sizes and worldwide origin options ranging from Germany, Brazil, Uruguay, Mexico, USA, New Zealand, Australia, Guatemala, and Colombia.
Human Platelet Lysate
With the rising costs and other concerns related to Fetal Bovine Serum, many companies are turning to Human Platelet Lysate as an alternative to Fetal Bovine Serum in cell culture applications. Cantor BioConnect HPL is produced in a cGMP facility and has significantly higher lot-to-lot consistency than Fetal Bovine Serum resulting in reduced qualification testing. HPL is also more cost-effective than FBS because of its higher concentration of growth factors which increase the potency.
Human Male AB Serum
Many cell culture media formulations include Human Male AB Serum because it lacks the antibodies against A & B antigens and therefore exhibits decreased immunoreactivity. With rising demand from new immunotherapy applications along with less than 1% of blood donors qualifying, this product is becoming increasingly scarce. Cantor BioConnect has secured a sustainable source for both true serum and defibrinated plasma.
